AUGUST SWIMMING TIMES AT KING EDWARDS

The Park Vale entrance (the entrance off Bristol Road) will be for the exclusive use of the building contractors, and will be out of bounds for everyone else.

The parade ground will not be available for parking, as this will be in use by the builders. Parking will only be allowed down the main drive, in front of the main part of the school.

Well done to all the Diddly League swimmers!

There were some great swims – notable among these was Josh Tullett, who swam on his birthday and smashed his 100m free PB!

Overall, despite the lack of swimmers, the whole team pulled together really well. The team should be much fuller when we go back to Wombourne for the final Mercian League gala on 10th July.

I could mention specific improvements in nearly every swimmer but to name three that really stand out: James Mander’s front crawl, Molly King’s butterfly, Owen Brown’s front crawl and backstroke. Also new swimmers Jasmine Smith and Maddie O’Donnell proved to be very good additions to the Junior Squad.

I personally feel that Fox Hollies SC is growing at a rapid pace, and competition for places in the Squads is now getting really healthy.

On the training side of things there has also been a big improvement, and to continue this improvement, and to gain a place in our increasingly strong Squads, all swimmers will need to work hard on implementing the techniques that we teach in training and also attend as many sessions as they can.

Overall though, I could not be more pleased with the swimmers’ efforts and again a big thank you to all the parents/guardians. Without your help, support and time, this swimming club would not be growing at the rate it is.

At the Ickle People the first eight swimmers in each event win points for themselves and their club, with first place gaining 8 points, second 7 points, etc. After a very strong showing from our team we were delighted to be placed fifth out of twenty in the Club ranking. In the Top Boy ranking Daniel Higgins came fifth overall. Shannon Fox was eighth and Abbie Cooke tenth in the Top Girl ranking.

There were a huge number of PBs and many of the youngest swimmers set really good benchmarks for themselves. All in all it was a great day out!

The Mercian League have published details for round 3. Fox Hollies are swimming against Wombourne, Redditch, Ludlow, Bromsgrove, and Oldbury in gala 4 at Wombourne Leisure Centre. The gala is on Saturday 10th July.
